佐藤です。始めまして

なにぶん初心者でよくわからないのですが、
RedHat7.１でPHP-4.2.0＋MySQL-4.23.49
で
次のコマンドを実行するとエラーが表示されます。
>mysqlshow
ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/tmp/mysql.sock' (111)

何がどういけないのかアドバイスをお願いします。
