河野と申します。MacOSX版のmysql-3.23.39.pkg.tar.gzをインストール
したのですがrootからアクセスできません。
一番最初はmysql testまでできたのですが、その後なにをしたのか、
どうなったのか。
# mysql test
ERROR 1045: Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: NO)
とエラーが出てしまいます。

過去ログを探して3436-からのスレッドでwindows版では~/.my.cnfを書き換
えるとうまくいくとあったので、探したのですが~/.my.cnfは作成
されていませんでした。またetc/my.cnf /usr/local/var/my.cnfも同様に見
つかりませんでした。

マニュアルも読んだつもりですが、手も足も出ません。どうかよろしくお願
いします。

MacOSX10.0.4
mysql  Ver 11.15 Distrib 3.23.39, for apple-darwin1.3.3 (powerpc)

To start mysqld at boot time you have to copy support-files/mysql.server
to the right place for your system

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SET A PASSWORD FOR THE MySQL root USER !
This is done with:
/usr/local/bin/mysqladmin -u root -p password 'new-password'
/usr/local/bin/mysqladmin -u root -h localhost -p password 'new-password'

You can start the MySQL daemon with:
cd /usr/local ; /usr/local/bin/safe_mysqld &

You can test the MySQL daemon with the benchmarks in the 'sql-bench' 
directory:
cd sql-bench ; run-all-tests

Please report any problems with the /usr/local/bin/mysqlbug script!
